Landscapes and Love

Adams U.S. National Historic Park

Landscapes of Love one of my most favorite and hardest articles to write, celebrates five extraordinary historic couples and the historic landscapes important to their relationships. I have been impressed, or some may even say smitten, with these five couples and the landscapes that symbolize their relationships. It took me longer than usual to write this article because I wanted to get it “just right.” I hope that you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The Landscapes of Love are:

  • The Taj Mahal - Ultimate Epitome of Love in India;
  • Adams National U. S. Historical Park - Abigail & John Adams in eastern MA, N.E.;
  • Sissinghurst Garden - kept the relationship of Vita Sackville-West & Harold Nicholson intact in Kent, England;,
  • Hever Castle, Kent, England - backdrop for the courtship of Anne Boleyn. & Henry VIII; and
  • The Petit Trianon near Paris - Louis XV & Madame de Pompadour and later Louis VI & Marie Antoinette
